Music Marketing

Posted By Musician Coaching on July 6th, 2012

This site is a blog for musicians and music industry people. It is a free educational resource and it is also the way I advertise my music consulting services. I am an entertainment professional with deep roots in the music industry. Throughout my music career I have been a major label A&R representative, a music supervisor, an artist manager, a reality show producer, a bass player and the head of a digital record label.

FAQ

Wait, what is Coaching?

It is a music business consultation.  Coaching sessions vary from client to client but generally speaking I am providing artists with a diagnostic of their existing business and giving them suggestions on what steps they should take to advance their careers.

How does it work?

I send out clients a detailed questionnaire which they will fill out prior to meeting with me.  I study their answers and do extensive research on their online presence before each consultation so I am able to make this time as effective for them as possible.  We then connect either in person or by Phone or Skype.  I generally only meet up in person in New York City where I am based unless I am traveling.  Contact me for Rates

I have a manager – can he come too?

Yes – I have several clients who are in management.  Anyone involved in your business or creative process is welcome to attend / be on a call with you.

Is the Marketing Plan Customized for Me & My Music?

Yes, Absolutely.  Like Coaching I send out a questionnaire before starting the plan.  I also speak with clients for 1/2 hour after reviewing the questionnaire.  I then write the document and arrange a time to follow up for another 1/2 hour call after they have lived with the plan to go over it and make adjustments if needed.            Contact me for Rates

Can You Get Me A Record Deal or A Music Manager?

My services are really focused on helping people build their own careers to the best of their ability.  While I have had several clients grow their businesses to the point that they attracted experienced managers and agents and had label offers this is not something I do directly.

Do you manage artists?

No- but thanks for thinking of me.

Are you able to speak at my Event / Conference / School etc?

If my schedule permits- sure.

What are your Rates?

I charge an hourly fee (one hour minimum or multiple hour packages for less) for coaching and a flat fee for generating marketing plans.  My full list of services is here.  For specific rates – contact me.

Do you work with Children?

I will only work with Children under the age of eighteen when they are with a parent or guardian.  I just get too many “please make me the next Justin Bieber” emails to do it any other way.

Will you listen to my music?

When working with clients – absolutely!  From a random email?  Not without a well written note providing a compelling reason to do so.  “Yo, I’m blowin’ up – get on the train!”  doesn’t cut it…

Can you get my music into Film and TV?

While I did do a great deal of music supervision I didn’t really care for it and don’t do it often enough to be very effective.  I can certainly provide you advice on how to get taken seriously in that arena…

What will be the Return on My Investment?

At it’s core my coaching and marketing services will absolutely 100% get your music in front of more people and help you generate meaningful relationships that will help you in your career.  At the end of the day though I have no idea if anyone will like your music when they hear it so it is not a question that I can answer.
