I just watched this video and was absolutely blown away. So much great stuff in here and such an accurate description of why the music business is where it is today. The full video is posted at the bottom of this post but runs 90 minutes. If you have limited time check out some of the youtube clips.

Qwest Love on Staying together as a band

Branford Marsalis on Students and work ethic

Thanks for posting “Before the Music Dies.” I watched the entire documentary and was quite pleased with having done so. I appreciated all of the comments that people made throughout the film.

My partner and I have a record label and one of our goals is to merely inspire people of all ages to get into the craft of whatever it is they are doing. Study, create, study, create. Fame is transitory and an illusion that and can come and go because it is based on whatever the “popular” trends are at any given moment. And, as the film indicated, after enough time goes by and your season has passed, the coming generations won’t even know that you existed.

There’s more I could say, but I won’t put a lengthy film review and all of my rants on your blog. Thanks much!

That was awesome Rick. Thanks for posting.
I wish every musician would watch that.
The star system was seductive (it’s dying now), but the music is where the real love can be expressed. I hope your postings inspire people to create from the love and a sense of play.
Great stuff.
Keep it up!
