This site is a blog for musicians and music industry people. It is a free educational resource and it is also the way I advertise my music consulting services. I am an entertainment professional with deep roots in the music industry. Throughout my music career I have been a major label A&R representative, a music supervisor, an artist manager, a reality show producer, a bass player and the head of a digital record label.

“Mr. Goetz understands that there is no set music business formula, but rather a unique approach to marketing each artist. He combines marketing methods from the old and new music business guards to inspire creativity and introduce strategies that even the most business savvy artist might overlook. From our first conversation, it was clear that Rick had listened intently to the music and had visualized marketing options from every angle. Rick is committed to presenting musicians with the best options and if he doesn’t have the answer, he has someone on speed dial who does.”

Rick has the unique combination of Industry savvy, the artistic ear coupled with a progressive pragmatic approach to all facets of a creative business. Rick has become the insider and the “must call” person for many artists and businesses looking to move to the next level. He is the rare person people automatically trust implicitly. “When in doubt, ask Rick Goetz” has been my mantra for the past ten
years. Not only has he survived the rigors of the roughest business
there is, but he lives to tell the tell with true wisdom, evolved
experience and with all of his industry contacts intact! Rick’s the
kind of guy that everyone knows and loves – not only is he easy to be
around, but he’s a veritable hub of creative advice and task-specific
information. He’s one of the few people I truly trust in the music
business!”

“Rick is a triple-threat: Firstly he’s dedicated to staying on top of developments in his field of expertise. Secondly he’s a great communicator, breaking down complex systems and explaining them in everyday language that the least tech-savvy people can follow. Thirdly, and perhaps best of all, he looks after his clients in a fashion that is rare – I got a follow-up from him days after our session, and again after a month. Insightful, informal and instructional. Highly recommended”
